Osprey at the Lake

Although it is still early in the year, we spent a couple of days at Blue Cypress Lake. It was cold and the water choppy, which made it more difficult to shoot the birds with hand held lenses, the best way to do it on a boat. There are some birds around already, although not on eggs, which makes them skittish and flighty. But it was fun anyway, and the place itself is beautiful.
If anyone is interested in guiding or instruction, please contact us, we may have some days available.

Ahh, the lake. That lake, yes, it seems to abound with opportunity and you always take full advantage of it. All those darn skittish pesky Osprey’s flying around keeping a close eye directly on you as they fly by with giant fish in their talons. LOL

Fabulous images all Fabs, so fabulous I would love to know your data on some of these as an example of EV used for best results in these different circumstances.

    Hi Bill

It all depends on the light With strong light after the sun is full you don’t have much of a chance with any of these birds .. will burn or under expose at the same time. Best to get them early.

For figuring exposure I take a reading of the sky and set the meter, usually one full stop over and on cloudy days close to two over. Either way is best to set manually rather than any of the auto modes Av or Tv !!

Hey Mr Al ! I knew 1 stop over the sky but never would have guessed two over clouds. Thanks a bunch. Are any of those shots yours?
